Coalition of Service Providers for the Homeless

Council for the Homeless chairs the Coalition of Service Providers for the Homeless (“The Coalition”). The Coalition is a countywide consortium of nonprofit agencies, businesses, community groups, and government agencies, as well as homeless and formerly homeless people. The group identifies critical gaps in service, prioritizes needs and plans for solutions.

The Coalition meets regularly to discuss community issues related to homelessness, best practices and opportunities for collaboration. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of every other month, from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. at the YWCA Community Room: 3609 Main Street, Vancouver, WA.

The Coalition as a Continuum of Care:

The term “Continuum of Care” (CoC) is used by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) when referring to a public process that inventories housing, identifies gaps in the housing inventory, and develops plans to fill those gaps. The Council for the Homeless facilitates this process in Clark County. In collaboration with The Coalition, we have produced successful HUD CoC grants every year since 1996, bringing more than $10.0 million to our community. The work outlined in a CoC grant is accomplished through The Coalition and the 10-Year Homeless Plan.

The 10-Year Homeless Plan

Clark County utilizes a 10-Year Homeless Plan to organize a community-wide response to homelessness. County and State resources support the prioritized goals in the 10-Year Plan.

The Coalition develops a Report Card as it monitors the progress made toward attaining the goals in the 10-Year Homeless Plan. The 10-Year Homeless plan was originally written in 2005 and updated in both 2007 and 2009. The 2009 Ten-Year Plan Report Card is now available. Thanks to all the partners who contributed to the Report Card process!
