2004 Submitted successful HUD Continuum of Care grant for $1,125,000 for housing and services for homeless persons. Assisted Mental Health Northwest, Columbia Non-Profit Housing and Vancouver Housing Authority in situating 13 low-income people with disabilities into Azalea Place apartments. Fifth Annual Recognition Luncheon honored three individuals and three organizations for their commitment to improving the lives of homeless and at-risk families and individuals. Promoted National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week through week-long newspaper print ad and outdoor advertising campaign to raise community awareness on issues of homelessness and hunger. Continued effort on Bridges to Housing, to create 600 long-term supportive housing units in the two-state, four-county area. Served 3,395 people through our Emergency Shelter Clearinghouse, more than one-third of which were children. Community Voice Mail provided 451 individuals or families with free voice mail service Coordinated efforts with the Greater Vancouver Interfaith Association and Share, Inc. to provide additional shelter for homeless people during the winter months. Continued expansion of the HMIS data collection system.
2003 Co-developed Bridges to Housing with Vancouver Housing Authority, Multnomah County and City of Portland to end family/child homelessness. Coordinated meeting with representatives of Federal Interagency Council on Homelessness, National Alliance to End Homelessness, Portland City Commissioner, Housing Authority of Portland, and Vancouver Housing Authority. Submitted successful $873,000 HUD grant for housing and services. Obtained license to bring Ready-to-Rent program to Clark County. Added eight new programs/agencies to our HMIS data collection system.
2002 Completed a Strategic Housing Plan with a goal of 1,250 new affordable housing units. Wrote successful HUD Continuum of Care grant application for $564,000 in housing subsidies and services. Led two Faith-to-Faith Roundtable forums with Greater Vancouver Interfaith Association. Expanded web-enabled Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) linking local shelters together for data gathering.
2001 Convened a task force to create temporary winter shelter for homeless families. Wrote successful $870,000 HUD grant for four projects that will provide housing subsidies and services. Raised $54,000 on behalf of six shelters. Conducted nearly 2,000 Housing & Services Surveys. Increased Community Voice Mail from 300 to 600 boxes. Wrote a $48,000 State of Washington application for transitional housing programs for homeless families.
2000 Wrote Continuum of Care plan and a $709,000 HUD grant for 24 permanent supportive housing subsidies for disabled persons and renewal funding for the Project Access street outreach program. Sponsored a Community Forum on housing and homelessness, and brought partners together to build 12 units of subsidized housing for low income disabled persons.
1999 Partnered with VHA and Open House to manage Pinewood as a transitional housing option. Coordinated 1999 HUD grant application, and received $377,000 for rent assistance and supportive services for homeless families with kids. Central Park Place, a 120-unit SRO, opened on the VA campus. Completed County-wide Survey of homeless and at-risk individuals and families.
1998 Coordinated submission of 1998 HUD grant application. Received $247,000 for Operation Homestretch, family transitional housing program. SHARE, Inc. opened the new Share House for men in downtown Vancouver.
1997 Coordinated submission of the 1997 HUD grant application. Received funding for Project Access, and developed a management information system to track homelessness in Clark County.
1996 Opened Oak Bridge Youth Shelter. Coordinated submission of 1996 HUD grant application. Received $400,000 for a Single-Room Occupancy (SRO) transitional housing project on the Veteran's Affairs campus. Convened Transient Task Force to address transient issues in Vancouver.
1995 Completed a Five-Year Plan to address homelessness in Clark County.
1994 Opened Inn at the Orchards 50-bed family shelter.
1993 Opened Valley Homestead 50-bed family shelter.
1990 Opened SafeChoice domestic violence shelter and launched the On Our Way transitional housing program.
